I used Bausch Lomb scopes and mounts mainly because they are very finely built and they are cheep .. also because i had a bunch of the already and they are quickly interchangeable so you have a big variety of scopes you can use ...

i had my g, unsmith put a 6.5x55 (numrich) barrel on a 1916 spanish mauser. he also did D&T, the scope mounts, bending the bolt and the 2 position safety.( i let the gunsmith do it, mostly because i have only one arm. i could do it, but i don't want to fudge up!!! ) i put on a dayton trigger and i have to finish the robert's gun stock this winter.

i forgot, i have a 1895 Chilian mauser action!!!!!

Nice Spanish Mauser my other favorite rifle ... On Ebay they have had a lot of 1895 Mauser parts stocks and barrels some recently in 8MM You could build up another nice rifle .... I call these kind of rifles Elegant Guns .. When I go to the rifle range people come up to me and say what kind of a rifle is that and where did you get it and how much did you pay for it ... when I tell them it is 120 years old krag 30-40 they don't believe me .. There is not too many people who shoot fancy target rifles any more ... I want to your rifle when you get it finished ...
