I loaded up some 30-40 test rounds with some old Remington round nose to try the new 19885 rifle.
Nice spring day here in Wisconsin. Fired several groups for group with iron sights at 100 yards.
Pretty pleased with first test.
A few extraction issues. I think the chamber needs a bit of polishing. Based on test, I think I'll keep about 40 rounds of fired brass segregated
for this rifle. The Uberti rifle requires manual cock of the hammer each shot which is a little different.
Overall very happy with first test. Now the load development really starts.

Try a group with your front rest on the barrel, about 6" back from the muzzle.

Yep, you have to cock a Uberti manually. Lawyer-ed up, probably a wise move in today's legal environment.

My 1885 .22 LR had no crown on the muzzle, I had a gunsmith put a target crown on it, which greatly improved accuracy.

The Uberti does not have any muzzle crown either. But I looked over the exit pattern after firing. I just need to be careful to preserve it.

FWIW: I consider Cat Man's 'High-Wall' to have a style of "muzzle-crown".
It is just an earlier method of finishing the muzzle of a heavy octagonal barrel.

CAT Man's High Wall muzzle is in good company. Krag muzzles were flat finished in the beginning.
