I can't believe you don't have an up close pic of Gregory Peck (Atticus Finch) shooting the mad dog in "To Kill a Mockingbird" it was my screen saver for years.

Great photo, Bill! Thanks for adding it to the thread.
I don't recall of ever seeing the film except for a clip here or there but everyone speaks highly of it

Re: Krags in the Movies
It is a great film. Take some time and watch it someday. I have read the book back in school and seen the movie at least 20 times. There is a well known actor besides Gregory Peck that makes his movie debut in the film. I don't want to give it away but it is at the end and he is so young you may not recognize him. He went on to be a star for decades.

If I'm not mistaken... it was that actor's debut role! One of my favorite movies!

Re: Krags in the Movies
I could swear I have seen a Krag in 55D@P, but, perhaps not.
I do, fortunately have something better - a Krag carbine that was there, documented by SRS. Carried by a member of Troop L, 6th USCav, CPT DeRosey Carroll Cabell commanding - the ONLY cavalry unit to accompany the CRE. Model 1896 #70210, restocked at Benicia after return from the campaign, and fitted with a 1901 sight. There are about 70 carbines with same SRS data - wonder if any of our members have one of them? Its' (P) stamp (no serifs) is pictured in KRS, while owned by Bob Hill. He sold it to me with serious misgivings - this was before the KRS usage info was published - and so, his hunch was later proven correct. Price ($375) was stiff for the time, but a fantastic bargain today...

Re: Krags in the Movies
For those who don't know, the bit part of an aspiring actor, whose only "To Kill A Mockingbird" line, was cut.
'Boo Radley' is the mysterious thread, that ties the whole story together.
Spoiler Alert - He used a small pocket knife, not a Krag.

Boo Radley was Robert Duval's movie debut. What a start to a wonderful acting career.
