'Reiver' - Actually that Weaver scope is a model 440. (It is 4-power and has 3 to 4 inches of eye-relief).
It was intended for high-power rifle use.
I found it at the local Gunshop in a box of 'used' scopes. It was in a set of Stith rings for the model 70 Winchester.
Modern scopes are much better than the old 3/4" Weavers. But at the Range, it is fun to play with 'Period Toys'.
The adjustment 'lock-screws' on the Weaver-440 are a hoot! It took me 4 sighters, until I got it close to point of aim.
I have to spend more range-time with that scope. IMHO - It is archaic but looks neat.
Most scope mounts on a Krag leave me with a stiff neck. A slip-on cheek-piece provides some 'cheek-weld'.
