Good point Dick. The pictures are not good enough for my eyes to tell for sure. Hope for the best.

Pictures are crappy! Scallop may be there?

Thanks for all the observations, I did play with an auction photo in my photo editor and got this for the bolt handle area.
Anyway, she should arrive tomorrow or Tuesday and I will update then.

Great! Your stock is a correct 1896 carbine stock and not an altered model 1898 carbine stock.

Can you make a similar detailed view of the front-sight?

BTW - I was wrong, earlier, about the bolt-sleeve. It is not a model 1892 sleeve, with a 'pinned' safety-lever. I was fooled by the poor first photos.
Your carbine has a correct later bolt-sleeve and safety-lever.

Latest pics are fine and show exactly what you'd want to see, but, old curmudgeon that I am, I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT see that in the original overall - at the front of the handle MAYBE; but at the rear, DEFINITELY NOT. I think the auction company (who was it, if you do not mind?) made a mistake and used a "stock image" in their initial posting, then corrected their mistake when you asked for a close-up.

But, the bottom line is it appears to have been cleared up satisfactorily and you will have a VERY nice addition to your collection. ENJOY!!

Thanks, Linkous Auction Co. Who have been excellent to deal with so far. A pic of the front sight.

Had never heard of them before. Thanks for the info.

As to the sight, base looks great, but that is not a original M96C blade., Not a big deal and can be easily remedied.

Front base is good and the blade looks real promising. !896 carbine blades are short and the "C" is hidden, by the base.

Promising? 96C blades are very low, almost nothing at front. What is there MAY be a Krag blade from another model, it may not. It does look like it could be filed to the proper profile, but a carbine that nice deserves the right blade. We'll just have to wait and see what develops.

Thanks again everyone, assuming I end up needing the correct blade, where can I find one?
