Oh my cow! You have your grandfathers rifle! By all means clean it well and then take it to the range! From what I've read, you have dies. Hope you have cases, etc. If bullets are a problem, try cast lead. I have had a great deal of very good results using various cast lead .30 caliber bullets in my bolt action rifles. Until I can do otherwise, that is exactly how I plan to start shooting my Krag. Google "The Load" by C.E. Harris. It has a good description of how to use Red Dot and other shotgun powders w/ cast lead bullets for assembling excellent practice ammunition.
