QUIET afternoon.

My neighbor and I were preparing a field for burning yesterday afternoon. We plowed the perimeter then raked and burned a safe strip. Somewhere around 4:00 it started getting noticeably quiet. Kind of like 4:00AM quiet. There is a US highway about four miles east of us, you do not hear individual vehicles but just a low continuous drone. Local traffic on the road almost stopped except for a few local rancher heretics (do not believe in the Super Bowl). I noticed the coyotes were sounding off earlier than normal, so the wildlife noticed it also.
This morning I was washing dishes while the 7:00 news was on, evidently the game was not a blow out and the half time was supposed to be special, so it stayed quiet for a long time.
