Hello,

I could use some assistance - I need to order in Handguard rivets for the two krag rifles I am working on. Which of these S&S rivets is most correct?

Thanks!

None of them.

Brass and Copper rivets were not used by Springfield Armory, nor was a washer used.

Parashooter has the best solution. He uses a steel common nail with an appropriate size head, cut to a workable length. (Likely arrived at, by Comparison, Trial & Error).

How was the nail secured? Cut and hammer?

Would I damage the Handguard in this process?

What about brass with Casey’s Brass Black applied to make them dark?

BTW I’m using K98 Handguard clips to stand in for Krag Handguard Clips which are unobtainable. I don’t have the heart to destroy a Krag Handguard in pursuit of them…

Common steel nail. Cut and file to fit. If not dexterous, enlist help to hold HG while upsetting rivet.

Thanks Parashooter! Great diagram too — I’m debating nails vs brass w/ brass black still.
