30-40 brass

Post by King carp »

Midsouth shooters has new primed 30-40 brass available. Lots of 100 at $1.00 per case. Not cheap but at least available.

Yes, I just noted that as I was surfing for Large Rifle primers; it may be manufactured by Privi over in the Balkans.

Privi has been making cartridge cases and loading ammo for a long time. Sometimes they are the only reliable source for uncommon cartridges. The stuff I've seen has been quite usable.

The last time i bought 30-40 brass from midsouth (3 years ago) it was headstamped by hornady. Not positive but i think this brass is also hornady stamped.

It's possible. Hornady was making both 30-40 ammo and brass available as of 2020. I actually spoke to a Hornady rep back in 2019 and he told me then that they were adding 30-40 to their production on a semi-limited basis because there were enough 30-40 shooters and too few manufacturers in the game, and that warranted attention (hence, a good business decision)! They probably are doing them in yearly lots, which explains why it's not always available, but shows up from time to time.

As for Privi... if they ARE making 30-40... then good on them for that! Privi is excellent brass. I use their 7.7x58 Arisaka and it holds up excellent... where as the Norma stuff I used previously, although boxer primed and reloadable, did NOT hold up well! The Norma brass started cracking by the third time reloading despite being annealed!
