Hello,

This morning on an auction, my eye was caught by this announcement presenting a diopter for Krag.
unfortunately no more precision than that on the model.
Does that ring a bell, or is it an invention for the purpose of selling?
Please help me gentlemen
Best regards

'donki1967' - That appears to be only part of the diopter rear-sight. The base that mounts onto the receiver is missing, (and likely still on a rifle).

Looking at how it machined and assembled, I do not recognize the manufacture, so I suspect it is Scandinavian.

I am very familiar with the American 'after-market' receiver ('peep' sights), that were made for the Krag.

Oddly, most North American gun enthusiasts have no idea what the term 'diopter' even means!
I bet, that on the Gunboards Forum, the Scandinavian Krag guys would recognize the maker of that diopter sight.

Attached photos show common American Krag after-market "diopters".
In the U.S.A., such sights were mainly used for hunting.
Possibly, rules may have prohibited the use of altered rifles with "diopter-Sights", in regular 'Service Rifle' military shooting-matches.
