... but this cartridge-carrier just had a nice vintage look to it.

At around $18, it will fit in with one of my .30-40 Krag 'sporters'.

I have to protect those 4 Dollar Krag rounds!

I would keep an eye out for corrosion on the cases. Sometimes Chinese companies take short cuts and the tanning chemicals could be nonstandard. If all seems well after a couple of months, you should be OK.

If all is OK, it does have nice looks and appears to be functional.

Avoid long term storage of brass on leather. Brass will turn green with verdigris but you probably knew that already. A buddy stored some .22 WMR in a leather pouch. Yep. All a nice blue-green.

All good points! Frankly, I don't trust leather slings, holsters, cartridge-loops, or gun-cases for more than temporary short-term contact with metal surfaces.

I also view fabrics, 'fleece', and protective foam padding with suspicion.

It is not easy to avoid buying chinese made goods. That stuff is all over this country. Most of it is inferior quality. Some of it is downright dangerous. I try my best to avoid purchasing anything from there. Before WW2 the japanese bought tons of U.S. scrap steel from us. When they attacked us they were lobbing the same steel at our troops. I don't want to buy something from china and have the money spent on it buying some ordinance that gets sent my way someday. Its too bad we no longer have the manufacturing ability to supply our own country.

And we can't blame the Loony Left for that.

Don't worry about a shooting war with China. We are collapsing from within and they know it. Self desrtuction of the greatest country the world has ever known .

We can be unhappy with Sleepy Joe and his Socialist allies, but the guys who made the decisions to close the steel mills in the rust belt and all the textile mills in the east and south because they could make more money from Asiatic labor are the ones who are responsible for most of this mess.
