I made an impulse buy today. I picked up a Remington 41P at the local gun shop. The barrel date says May 1936. Don't know if it'll shoot but it sure is purty.
More to follow.

Re: Me and the 41P
Maybe my memory is going, but I don't recall ever hearing or reading about a Remington 41P. More info please.
Re: Me and the 41P
It is a single shot made from '36 into '39. The data says something like 307,000 were built in those four years. There was the 41A with a regular rear sight and the -P made with a rear peep and globe front sight. I took it out today. It is minute of squirrel at fifty yards. I'll have to find what works for it. The fodder I used for this outing was CCI .22 shorts, 29 grain, 1080 fps.
-added- Shot at fifty yards. Minute of groundhog.

Re: Me and the 41P
How about a photo with feet!
Re: Me and the 41P
Sorry. No feet today. I fired a box of Winchester Super X .22 LR (X22LRH) through it this afternoon. It liked it better than the shorts. No surprise there. This is one fun little rifle.

Re: Me and the 41P
Not surprised that LR is more accurate than HV Shorts. Chamber is for LR and twist is 16". How old was that Super X ammo?
Re: Me and the 41P
I think I picked it during one of the deer seasons between 1998 and 2002. It was before I started my spread sheet. I tried to get more the other day but Winchester discontinued it some time in the past and, of course, the recent drought on all things ammo due the Wuhan and Biden.
I think I will get a sampling of a bunch of different brands within the 40 grain weight class and see what it likes. Then I'll try to buy two cases. I checked on the Lapua brand I may have to float a loan for two cases. Man, is that stuff pricy.
