'trapdoor' project

Wanting a faux .45-70 T-D Carbine for plinking at the Range, I picked up a 'cut down' 1873 rifle a few years back at a gun show, for a good price.

The 'cut down' rifle had good 'Bones' and proved accurate at the rifle range soon after I bought it.

The project then languished and the T-D just sat in a rack in my basement.

Last week at the Michigan Antique Arms show, I found a nice 1873 rifle stock that someone did a skillful job of turning into a faux carbine stock.
I bought it CHEAP and it has advanced the .45-70 project.

I switched stocks and rather like the 'new' one. I replaced a big aluminum front-sight blade with something more palatable.

The next step is to put a bit of patina on the barrel and load up some rounds. Eventually I'd like to improve the look of the front-sight.
