Local gun shop had a 'used' Tisas 1911 in their display case for under $300.

I got it out of layaway the other day and replaced the plastic grips with wood.

I doubt the pistol has had more than a few rounds through it. The build quality is very good!

We have a date at the Range this week.

What is a TISAS? Who made it? I know it is one of a large number of 1911 Colt clones, but the name is a new one to me.

I'm a single shot & Krag guy, and I find all sorts of pre-WW1 rifles interesting. Most pistols I leave alone.

'Tisas' is a high-tech Turkish manufacturer. Their 1911s are low cost, but the slides and frames are quality forgings.

The brand is starting to get a good reputation on the U.S. market for accuracy, function, and quality control.
Base models are sold at places like Rural King for just over $400.
They look very G.I., except for reliability features like polished feed-ramp and low ejection port. (Which I like)!

The Tisas 1911s, I've seen, come nice & tight out of the box with decent trigger-pulls.
Parts are interchangeable with U.S. 1911 pistols. (The replacement wood grips btw are COLT).

I've owned some expensive 1911s, but gave them to my sons or made trades. I prefer cheap reliable 'beaters'.
The 'Safe Queens' weren't getting shot. I couldn't afford to put wear and tear on them and take a hit with loss of collector value!

Tisas is also making nice looking 9mm Browning HP (P-35) clones at a reasonable price.

I recently bought the same pistola new from Palmetto State Armory for $300. Initially thought it was parkerised, but I think it's Ceracote. I put rosewood grips on mine, too. Figured I would have to give it the onceover tuneup, but slide to frame fit, lock up, and trigger were good to go. I ran 10 magazines of three different batches of my reloads through it with nary a hiccup. Is as accurate as I can get with a pistol. Great bargain!
