Something is Fishy

Post by butlersrangers »

I started a thread, yesterday, under "Other Firearms". The post was about a recently acquired Tisas model 1911 .45 cal. pistol.
It included some photos.

Tonight, the thread has had 1250 views.

Other threads are suddenly showing astounding numbers of views.

This does not seem possible. Something is not right!

I am certainly not that interesting.

Bots?

Administrators, something is weird and wrong!!!

Maybe there is a lot of interest in the Tisas models and your post is one that the Bots picked up on with photos and comments.

Years ago there was a lot of interest in 35/40 with Dave's thread in Double Gun. My thread here had an outsized number of views, perhaps because there were so few other things written on the subject.

If there is something to this try a search on Tisas and see if your post is prominent.

O well, I liked my theory for a little while. Search engines rely on the info from the bots. I am not sure if anyone fully understands how that works, even the people that design the systems are probably perplexed by what happens.

Is there anyway to keep these "bots" out of the forum? They make me wonder if they are just mining for info on the forum members. Another theory is that jeff bizos has his minions looking at this sight to get info on Krag rifles to start making them again! Thats probably a stretch. I do like the subject of this post. :D

King carp, we actually want the bots. Those bots are helping potential new members find us before making a mistake buying Bubba-ed carbines and other junk. It would be interesting to know if the bots trip the view counter. Maybe one of them has heavy touch when snooping. Administrator's may know, or not.
