Krag rifle marked 1894
Re: Krag rifle marked 1894
Looks pretty good to me. Maybe try some natural light outside shots though? Sometimes they look a bunch better.

Re: Krag rifle marked 1894
I would like to take it outside, but right now the air temp is 2 above ZERO. I think it will wait until it warms up a little.
I have owned this rifle for close to 40 years, why all of a sudden I have taken an interest in it again is anybody's guess, What I didn't realize is how few 1894's are out there. And to think I thought about selling it a few years back because I hadn't shot it and it was taking up gun safe space.
I bought this from a local gunsmith who was also a Krag collector(he passed away quite a few years ago)now I wonder what happened to all his rifles. But this I don't think was his own, I think he was selling it on consignment for someone else.
As I remember he had a dozen or so rifles but most were carbines, now I wonder how many were unmolested.

Closeup detail photos, on a rainy or cloudy day with defuse lighting, will show texture, contours, and markings more clearly.
Seeing 'sections' of a long gun shows more than the 'overall' shots.

I'll see what I can do, the stock on my rifle is to me very nice and I have been trying to capture that, I may just have to get a little closer and show more sections.
Plus it's hard to show the color of the wood as it really looks, which is a nice dark walnut.

Good outdoor lighting really brings out the detail and color of the nice walnut on these Krags. When weather permits of course. Lol
This pic was on a sunny day but under the shade of a tree in my yard. The wood came out true to life in color and detail.

scottz63 and butlersrangers, that's what I'm trying to duplicate, your pictures show sharp detail and the color of the walnut. I might try to break it down in 4 or 5 good sections.

'scottz63' is correct. Even/diffuse natural light, either indoors or outdoors, eliminates shadows and highlights color, texture and detail.
The O.P. has a very nice Krag.
Shadows and glare will blemish a good view.
A couple of reworked views of the O.P.'s photo - better, but still some shadow and blur.
