Good morning,
If a charitable soul could date a SA KRAG with the serial number 109855, it is for an acquaintance who has just had one.
Unfortunately the marking is illegible, thank you

The Krag Model 1898 with serial number 109855 was made around June 1898. Any more information about this rifle?

Pretty low number for an 1898 (we think that change from M1896 to M1898 occurred between 109108 and 109342) - would like to verify a feature, just for grins.
Is there a scallop cut in the wood at the bolt handle, and does the receiver have a little extended trough in which the base of the bolt handle rests?
