J.F.C. Stock Cartouche on 1898 Krag Rifle?

Interesting observations 'Whig'.

I don't have a GP rifle stock or School rifle to personally examine the 'Cartouche' initials and style.

On page 190 of "The Krag Rifle Story", Mallory's chart does indicate that the J.F.C. cartouche, stamped on GP rifles, had "script lettering".

The fancy 'floral' cartouche, that you posted, certainly looks like it could be a 'script JFC' to me.

However, in Mallory's chart, he also noted a cartouche with an "indecipherable four-letter script", of "Unknown" meaning, found on some Philippine Constabulary rifles.
(Maybe, it is the same cartouche that you posted)?

Maybe, Mr. Coyle used both of his 'cartouche' stamps, (script & block), on two different types of Krag stocks?
