If butlersrangers assumption is correct I may already have a .22 cal Gallery practice rifle, at least the stock

Well, I’m leaning on the 50% that your hunch may be right because that means I don’t have to try to find a .22 caliber practice rifle to buy

Not clear on how having (POSSIBLY) having the stock for one would eliminate the "need" to have the whole gun?
Physically, the stocks are identical, so any sort of swapping was possible. I suppose the large, VERY ornate, unbordered "JFC" cartouche would be the most desirable. The .22s are pretty scarce, and pricy. Mine, 476551, is SRS-listed, and were I to part with it, would be asking around $3,500. But, right now, it's one of my keepers.
