Help with sideplate

Post by Mudflat mike »

I brought back a Norwegen “school” Krag in 6.5x55 from a trip to Europe. The extractor needs replacing and I cannot figure out how to remove the side place to access the pin
Help!

Never mind, I got it! Remove the mag cut off and the side plate comes right off

Sorry for my delayed response, it took me a while to find a few relevant pictures from various sources.

In the interim, the OP was able to solve his own question. Well done you!

In case you don't know - The trick is 'pressing-in' the flat-spring, on the Norwegian cut-off lever with a small tool, and then pulling the cut-off to the rear.

The Norwegian side-plate is retained by the shaft of the cut-off.

When the Norwegian cut-off is removed from the action, the side-plate can be swung-out and easily taken off the receiver.

Years ago, 'Parashooter' posted a very clear photo on the KCA Forum that shows in detail the relationship of the Norwegian parts.

(BTW - Using the KCA 'search' feature will often locate answers to 'new' questions, that have been asked before and often).
