1902 bolo bayonet
If there was to be a bolo bayonet on an online auction someday. Should I share the link here or keep it quiet unless someone finds it and doesn't have to deal with the extra competition? No not my auction
Re: 1902 bolo bayonet
Not sure what you are asking. Most of us have watched auctions for these bayonets many times. They are often expensive. You are always welcome to share links here. We generally respect a poster's questions and links to items for sale by not competing against them. Good luck!

I'll post it on here. I'm not going to buy it. It is on an auction website I sometime look at.

Is that a legitimate one?

I could go either way on this. If it was something I REALLY wanted personally, I'd keep my mouth shut. If I didn't want it, I would probably post it. But, IF posting, you should be clear as to whether you had any interest and might be bidding. Sometimes one posts simply to get opinions from more knowledgeable collectors - in that case you should also be clear as to whether you might bid, because others might (even though they said they wouldn't - in a worst case scenario). The whole thing is an interesting exercise in human nature, both good and bad.
The bolo is probably the worst case, and the Bowie is a close second - and, both have been faked. In 1972, I passed (because I didn't have the money) a nice Bowie and scabbard for $375. Oh, and it came with a minty M1896 rifle attached!!!! Biggest mistake of my career, other than missing (for the same reason) a "Long Range" .45-80 trapdoor for $450, at about the same time.
On the other side of the coin, many years later, I plucked two BoOFs off Gunbroker for ridiculously low prices, using "buy-it-now" and did not post either link (
) until sales were confirmed....

No I am not going to buy it. I can delete post if you think I should. And if someone wants to repost it after the auction is over if they remember, go for it. Just let me know if I should delete postbif that's possible to do at this point

Re: 1902 bolo bayonet
Lord knows I'm no bayonet expert (only 56 bolos were made and I've never held one) but that does NOT look "right" to me - the stampings do not look correct, and there is apparently no scabbard (?). That is a VERY bad sign. All that said, I see NO reason to remove the post as it may well prompt some interesting dialog and help us all...
Re: 1902 bolo bayonet
I can't really say. Some of it looks right. Then some of it looks "off".
Here are a couple pics of a real one. I need to find mine to verify a couple of things.

I changed my mind. Fake
