Hello everyone!
Just thought I’d join and show a new to me Krag that I just won off of Gunbroker. I don’t have it in hand just yet, it is on its way to my LGS. I do have some pics that I copied from the auction.
New guy, new Krag
Re: New guy, new Krag
Can somebody tell me something about this Krag?
Re: New guy, new Krag
Congratulations on your purchase. Someone more knowledgeable than I will be along shortly. Based on your serial number, I believe your Krag was made sometime around 1900. As you may know, someone has modified the stock from it's original configuration. It looks to be a cut down rifle and they've modified the stock. The front sight is also missing. Many of these were used in hunting. While sporterized, it appears to be clean overall. Hornady recently released some ammo and brass for the Krag. Timing is good and I'd recommend you buy some as the last drought lasted several years. No telling when manufacturers will stop supporting these old gals. Fun to shoot and hope you post more photos once it arrives.

Thank you! I’ve done a little research on the forums here and it looks like the stock could be a 1899 carbine stock with the comb whittled on some. I will be able to look at it closer of course when I get it in hand, also I have a pic of the muzzle and there is a space for a front sight
Re: New guy, new Krag
The upper hand guard looks like an 1892 hand guard as well
Re: New guy, new Krag
Yeah, you are right, I didn’t notice that
