Sarco has receivers, cheap. Buy the nicest one you can find in the 1902 range, swap the parts, throw the buggered one in a river, or, if you are high and dry, wipe your prints and throw it in the next convenient dumpster....

That's another solution. Is there paperwork on a stripped receiver? I'd go for a pre-1899 one if possible.

Stripped receiver is still a "firearm" by definition if it was manufactured on January 1, 1899 or later. Interesting how ebay lets many stripped receivers or barreled receivers that do require registration to be sold without flagging them as illegal (mostly Krags but a few other rifles also). I have seen dozens sold this way. I've gone out of my way to politely contact a few of these sellers. Some have removed the post but others, who must know what they are doing, just ignore my message. I don't fool with that crap anymore. No one cares...

IMHO, that rifle is SO nice that it really deserves a compatible receiver...but, YMMV.
