The Rough Rider

Post by Bill Rogers »

On a somewhat dreary, cloudy, cool spring morning today, I went to pick a new piece, to me. I went to visit my good friend and FFL to obtain a new to me 6.5x55 Swede to go along with the Norwegian Krag I have since I have a supply of ammo. Granted the new piece is not a Krag but a Ruger No.1, that is okay. I have several 30-40s that aren't Krags either. While we were chatting it up he mentioned he came across something and thought of only me due my my fascination with Krags since childhood. Out of nowhere he handed me a 2005 Rick Terry sculpture and Friends of the NRA promotion, The Rough Rider. This now sits in "my" room with my other classic items. Emblazoned with "Remember The Maine" The Rough Rider is holding onto that wonderful Krag with the loading door in full view. His eyes are wide open to something either heading his way or something that just occurred. It was a wonderful gesture on his part and something I thought worth sharing for those that have never seen the piece.
Cheers !! Bill

There you go, Waterman.
I assumed the statuette was a Black Trooper, 'Buffalo Soldier', from the 9th or 10th Regiment, U.S. Cavalry!

It is a nice decorator item.

The Krag is an equal opportunity weapon!
