Sporterized Krag
I recently found this sight so I am new to the forum. I have a 1898 US Springfield Armory in .30-40 Krag caliber. It was my fathers who hunted with it back in the 1950's. It has been spoterized (stock cut off in front of rear barrel band and no bayonet lug, all else seems original). Is there anyone who has replacement stocks for these rifles (originals)? What would be the value in its current condition. Sorry no pics. I cannot seem to get my pics down to a size that fits here.

Frank W. - Welcome to the KCA Forum.
It is pretty cool that you have inherited your Dad's Krag.
Generally, this forum requires one post, before you can attach photos to subsequent posts.
Up to 5 photos can be attached to a post. Each attachment has to be smaller than 1 MiB.
If your current stock is solid and simply 'cut' in front of the rear barrel-band, reproduction/replacement forearms are available.
These can be 'spliced' to the altered original Krag stock; the seam can be hidden beneath the rear barrel-band.
The new wood can be stained and finished to match the original wood.
Today, I noticed on eBay, that a vendor (beaver156) is selling reproduction Krag forearms for $60, plus $10 postage.
Original U.S. Krag front barrel-bands, with bayonet-lug, can be purchased on eBay or from part vendors.
I've posted some pictures of a 'stretch job', that I completed in the past, showing some of my method.
