Took My 1898 Sporter out today..load suggestions?
Forgot how much fun it was to shoot. Used Winchester factory 180 Gr PSP bullets, 1-1/2 inch group at 100 yards. Was wondering if our wonderful members have any favorite loads/weights for basic target shooting? 180Gr, 165 or 150? ANy info would be appreciated.

Re: Looking for Dad's Krag carbine
<r>This is the business end from my sporterized 1898 Krag, the barrel itself looks good, but the front sight was a dead giveaway that this was modified. The barrel workmanship is stellar though.<IMG src="https://kragcollectorsassociation.org/kca/phpBB3/images/yabbfiles/Attachments/DSC_0006.JPG"><s>[...

Re: Looking for Dad's Krag carbine
Welcome to the forum by the way. Here is perhaps a helpful longshot, try running a classified in the regional papers, like the Post Star out of Glens Falls NY, The Albany Times Union, or other capitol area papers, my thoughts even though it was 20 years ago, the rifle might be still in that neck of ...

Re: SRS request please 1898 Model springfield Armory
Thanks for the confirmation. I believe that this was one of 8 rifles brought to Northern NY in the 20's as part of the civilian marksmanship training program.

SRS request please 1898 Model springfield Armory
<r>Have had this wonderful rifle for years, property of my great uncle who served in the US Army during the Spanish-American War. The serial number is 179757, the SFA stamp has the year 1899 on the stock. I don't believe this is an actual carbine, but perhaps is a sporterized version based on the cr...
