Hi Ed,
Sorry to say that your rifle doesn't show up on any of the lists that I have. All that I can tell you is that it was made in 1898.

Re: Serial Number
Hello Neil,
That is not true! Some M'98 and M'96 carbines were arsonal refitted to M'99 specs which could give that impression. They look alike and are all carbines (if all other criteria are met) but are diffrent phases in the evaloution of the Krag.

Re: Serial Number
Hello Neil,

For the record you can post as many questions in a day that you want or have time to! That serial number is out of the M'98 carbine range of 123161-130965 (+/- possibly a few each way). M'99 carbine production began around 226127 it is possible that it is a M'99 and the date was m...

Re: serial number check
Hello Champ,
Your serial number didn't show up on the list that I have.
Brophy doesn't list serial numbers (unless I missed a chapter) Mallory's book has the list. That is the one you want.

I've got the same problem as Hal on the images! Are we doing something wrong or are lacking something in our computers?

Re: KRAG?
Well the good news is that you have a Krag. The bad news is that as is the case with many Krags over the years yours has been sporterized. Yours sounds like a well done job so I guess the news is not all bad, but sporterization does greatly diminish the collectors value. The upside is that Krags are...

Re: KRAG?
We will need more info than that to help you! What is the barrel length? Is the front sight braized into a "dovetail" in the barrel? Is the stock full length military(46" total and about 3 1/8" from the muzzle)? Is there a handguard over the barrel around the rear sight? Describe...

Re: '96 Carbine Sights - Another CAVEAT
Hi Martin,
Thanks for the heads up! My main intrest is in the Krag carbines and this is a good reminder for the buyer to beware. Also on the KCA home page in the picture section, at the bottom is a series of photos of a fake '96 carbine sight to study.
Thanks again for keeping us on our toes!!...
