Re: Mystery rifle! Can anyone identify it?

48 stars means that it is after Arizona gained statehood (1912). I would bet that it's a model 1903.

Re: New member

I agree too! I alway take my 1898 Rifle to the range, and usually my 1898 sporter as well. Fellow shooters always show interest and ask questions, and I usually offer up for interested shooters to take a few shots! My 98 Rifle is deadly accurate at 100 yards too! Best gun ever!

Re: Redfield Receiver Sight for Krag

I have a Redfield on my Krag sporter, and I am going to have a scope mounted eventually. If you want, you can have mine. Just let me know where to send it.

I see you are from Michigan also, i live in Webberville.
I love the wood on this! Much better than the wood on my sportered (butchered) example. Awesome job!

I live in Ypsilanti!

Re: Correct sight for 98 Carbine?

I agree about the sight. I thought my sporterized was a true carbine until Dick pointed out that the front sight (although correct) was also not properly located in relation to the muzzle, and the brazing used to secure it is actually visible too (bad job). My serial number was much too high for a t...

Re: Couple of questions about my Krag sporter

I agree with you Ned, both of my Krags will not kick the brass out unless I pull the bolt completely to the rear smartly. Otherwise, the brass just sort of topples out.

Re: picked up my first krag

You should be able to order Remington factory 30-40 ammo from Cabelas or a site like Cheap-As Dirt. It is available, but most stores will not carry the cartridge anymore. Many of us faithful Krag shooters hand-load our own ammo. Dies, and everything else you would need are readily available. I perso...
