The Krag in Michigan
The attached photo is from my family collection and shows (Upper Penisula) Michigan State Troops in training near Manistee, Michigan, around 1900-1903. The bulk of the men have Model 1899 Remington-Lee Rifles in .30-40 Govt. The NCO at the left has a Krag. The soldier addressing the group has a Krag bayonette on his Mill's belt. The soldier at the right, feet spread and looking down the line, has a Krag. Following the Spanish-American War, the State of Michigan purchased Remington-Lee's. These were eventually replaced with Krags. Chuck McArthur

A second photo believed taken near Calumet, Michigan, (Swedetown) around 1903-04. Picture shows stacked Krags and Mill's gear. Chuck McArthur
