JOHN42768: Nice pics of some good looking Krag carbines. If you got it, flaunt it! Do you shoot them?
Re: Carbine Eye Candy #2
What's the bottom one?
Re: Carbine Eye Candy #2
Butlersrangers, Thank you. No I have never fired any of them. Just thought it would be nice to display the differences in the models side by side.
Mjanway, The bottom is an 1899 with a 1901C rear sight and sling swivels. The 1896 (top) and the 1898 (middle) both have 1896C rear sights.

Re: Carbine Eye Candy #2
Very nice pictures - a couple of questions: How many rod holes in butt of #1, is it cut for the oiler, and what are the serial numbers of #1 & #2? Thanks.
Re: Carbine Eye Candy #2
Hi Dick, The cleaning rods holes are three in a triangle configuration in the larger hole. There is an equal sized lightening hole below with a partial barrier section of the stock separating them. I say partial because you can see into the lower chamber, but I believe not enough room for the oiler to pass easily in and out. I conversed with you awhile back regarding the '96's unusual marking in the proof circle. It is SA inside of a C. The '96 is 78544 and the '98 is 127270. I just obtained the '98 about a week ago. John
