The thread about the Norse 1912 action being rebarreled for .243 Winchester and the ensuing discussion about SAAMI maximum CUP values caused me to think a bit. Following that with the bit about withdrawing the 2200 fps ammunition and the 1898(?) sight regulated for said ammo. What were the procedures for proof testing at Springfield in the days of the Krag and the New Springfield? I've been digging, but I would like to hear from you guys.
