In search of an 1899 Carbine Handguard

Post by BoRdErBaCoN »

Hi guys, new here - so if I'm posting in the wrong spot, please forgive me.

I'm looking for an 1899 Carbine handguard for the 1901 type sight with windage adjustment.

I have the earlier type handguard for the 1896 type sight. I need one with the larger opening and hump with lower shelf.

Let me know if you guys can help me out - if you have one kicking around - or if you know of where to get one.

I'd like to go with an original if possible. Would be willing to trade my earlier version carbine handguard. ;)

Thanks in advance.

Edit - So I just found the classifieds section - Doh! :D

'BorderBacon': Welcome to the KCA Forum. Depending on the assembly date of your Model 1899 carbine, the 'rifle' type 1901 hand-guard might also be correct. The 'humped' hand-guard for the 1901 carbine sight was not adopted until February, 1902. (Of course, it was a correct replacement for carbines built earlier).

Awesome. Mine is an early serial # - so this might have been the case.

I will keep my eyes peeled for either one I guess.

Thanks!

I found a stock set online - the stock had been sanded and someone shortened it by an inch at the butt, but the handguard is original.

I plan on fitting an original buttpad to it for my "NRA Carbine" and using it as a shooter, or maybe selling it off.

Thanks for the info. I'll update with pictures when I get things all put together.
