Re: New Guy - My First Krag
Personally know next to nothing about the ins and outs of Krag rifles. Do know, very much like the looks of your Krag rifle. Restoration will be an educational experience. Read. Learn and proceed as you are able to find the needed parts. Do not hurry. For my part, bought a 1898 rifle a few years ag...

Re: New Guy - My First Krag
Replica Krag forearms are available from Numrich Arms and Prestigious Woods sells one on eBay. Parts like swivels and front barrel-bands are sold on eBay and Grampa's Gun Parts (KCA Classifieds). Good handguards are the tough & expensive item to get, now. Use the KCA 'search tab' and review thr...

New Guy - My First Krag
I have been a member of this forum for several years, but it was not until just two days ago, that I was able to purchase my first Krag. I have been a milsurp collector for many years, primarily focusing on M1 Carbines and M1 Garands. I have wanted to add a Krag to my collection for quite some time,...

Unissued - Really?
Heres a current listing on Gunbroker. Im simply baffled by many of the claims made by some sellers.

Ive heard the ones about my great grandfather carried this on Omaha Beach but to make a claim that a 120 year old rifle is unissued, how believable is that?

https://www.gunbroker...

Re: 1898 Krag - Ser 203929
Thank you for the detailed information about this rifle and the particular aspects that I need to pay attention to. From everything posted here, it appears this rifle has the 2,000 yard rear sight, but the frosted barrel is a big negative for me.

Yall saved me $695. Ill keep looking. Than...

Re: 1898 Krag - Ser 203929
Thanks for responding so quickly. I do know that the rear sight goes out to 2000 yards (20 marked on the leaf). I did not see a C marking on the sight which I know would make it more valuable.

Not sure what I should be looking for on the handguard, so any help there would be appreciated. ...

1898 Krag - Ser 203929
I was out hitting some pawnshops today and came across an 1898 Krag rifle. It has a nice 1901 cartouche and a P proof mark behind the trigger guard. The barrel is frosted, but the bluing is decent.

I dont have a Krag in my collection but think that this might be a nice addition. Im not lo...
